Since 1972, UNESCO has been committed to preserving special testimonies to the history of mankind. You’ll find four of these unique World Heritage Sites with us in Lower Saxony: the Wadden Sea World Natural Heritage Site, the World Cultural Heritage Site Fagus Factory in Alfeld, the Hildesheim Cathedral in Hildesheim with its cathedral treasury and St. Michael’s Church, the old town of Goslar in the Harz, Rammelsberg mine and the Upper Harz water management system.
